The Skipworth Wine Company was founded by Kim Skipworth, who has been involved in the winemaking industry in Western Australia for over 30 years.

Since acquiring the property, Kim has constructed the Cellar Door and Winery as well as planting the many acres of vines. He has previously established vineyards and wineries in Pemberton and the Ferguson Valley, where he played a pioneering role in the establishment of the wine region.

Despite extensive damage, the Winery and Cellar Door survived the devastating Waroona-Yarloop bushfire of 2016 which burned through 70,000 hectares and destroyed 170 homes.

Kim stayed to defend the property with his firefighting unit and while there was no Skipworth vintage of 2016, the vines have since completely recovered.
